Kybella® in Houston, TX
Over time, fat can collect under your chin or submental region. This fullness can make you look older or heavier than you actually are. If you are bothered by fat under your chin and you don’t want to have a surgical procedure such as liposuction, Kybella® may be the perfect treatment for you.
Kybella® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in the treatment area under the chin to improve your profile. Kybella® is also being used off-label to treat pockets of fat in the axilla, medial knee, lower abdomen, love handles, and banana roll (back of the thigh beneath your buttocks).
Kybella® DestroysFat Cells
The active ingredient in Kybella® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
When injected in the fat under the chin, Kybella® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.

Am I A GoodCandidate?
Anyone looking to decrease the amount of fat under his or her chin (or other small pockets of fat), but wants to avoid a surgical procedure, may be a good candidate for Kybella® treatment. During your consultation, Dr. Sato will evaluate your medical history and examine your areas of concern to determine if Kybella® is a right for you.
Kybella®Treatment
At each treatment you will receive multiple small injections under the chin (or other treatment area) and the injection process takes 15-20 minutes (topical numbing cream will be applied prior to the injection and will add ~25 minutes to the treatment time).
How Many TreatmentsWill I Need?
Treatments are given 1 month apart and you should not receive more than 6 treatments total to the same area. Depending on the amount of fat present in the area being treated, you may require 2-6 treatments (In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments).
How Long Do theResults Last?
Once destroyed these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
Kybella®Recovery
Common side effects of Kybella® include: swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Many patients find comfort in wearing a compression garment to help with the discomfort and swelling.
