Sculptra

Introduction to Sculptra

Sculptra is a revolutionary treatment for boosting volume and vitality. This noninvasive dermal filler stimulates collagen production using the FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Unlike other fillers, Sculptra works gradually and provides long-lasting results by improving skin texture and elasticity over time. With Sculptra, patients can effectively address both volume loss and the signs of aging for a refreshed and revitalized appearance. If you are interested in Sculptra in Houston, contact board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Erika Sato at her state-of-the-art practice to learn more.

Achieve Balance

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a gel-like dermal filler used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles. Made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), it is injected under the client’s skin at the target area. The PLLA encourages the production of collagen once the body absorbs it. Collagen is the body’s natural anti-aging protein, which provides structure, support, and strength. It is the primary building block of the skin, muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissues. Starting in our mid-20s, our bodies naturally produce less collagen, with production decreasing by roughly 1% per year. This decline leads to visible signs of aging.

Treating Ozempic Skin Laxity Side Effects

Ozempic face refers to the sunken and gaunt appearance of the face after rapid weight loss from Ozempic (and other weight loss medications including Semaglutide compounds such as Wegovy and Tirzepatide compounds such as Zepbound). Sculptra is used widely to help restore facial volume to areas of facial fat loss.

Let’s Get Started

What’s the first step?

The first step in getting treatment for Sculptra is to schedule a consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Erika Sato. Your medical consultation will involve an accurate, honest, and detailed conversation about your current target areas, medical history, aesthetic goals, and expectations. Dr. Sato will examine your target areas, discussing the amount of Sculptra she would recommend and the areas to inject. Take advantage of this time to voice any of your concerns regarding the treatment and ask questions you may have regarding the risks, benefits, recovery timeline, and any other aspects.

Once you both agree that Scultra is the best treatment option for you, Dr. Sato will design your treatment plan, and you will meet with the patient care coordinator to schedule your appointment.

What to Expect on the Day of Sculptra Treatment

On the day of your Sculptra treatment, Dr. Sato and her team will guide you to the treatment room. She will review your target area(s). A topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the area of your skin, so you will feel little to no discomfort. Pronox is also an option if desired.

After adequate numbing is achieved, Dr. Sato will disinfect the target area and inject Sculptra with a fine needle. Massage to the treated area(s) is vital to ensure that the Sculptra particles are distributed in a manner that best achieves your aesthetic goals and contour, reducing the risk of lumps or nodule formation. Once home, you will follow the 5-5-5 rule which involves massaging the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days.

A Sculptra treatment typically lasts 60-75 minutes, depending on the areas being treated (topical numbing cream is applied for 30-45 minutes and the actual treatment takes 15-30 minutes).

Sculptra Recovery

Sculptra is a noninvasive treatment, so there is no recovery downtime, and patients are free to return to their normal daily routine immediately.

It is still recommended that patients avoid exercise and strenuous activities for a couple of days.
Your skin might be sore, and you could have light bruising at the injection site for a couple of days.

How Much Does Sculptra Cost in Houston, TX?

The cost of Sculptra in Houston will depend on the treatment plan. For recommended rejuvenation that adequately targets the patient’s whole face (“facial balancing”), a common guideline is one vial per decade of life. For example, if a patient is in his or her 40s, the recommended treatment plan is typically 4 vials. The injections then take place in 2-3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. There will be ongoing results for ~6 months. Once the initial series is complete, maintenance treatments are typically recommended every 12-18 months.
